Chongqing's plan to build a national outsourcing service center was approved by the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology, during the 2008 Chongqing Economic and Trade Fair.
The municipality expects to attract worldwide renowned IT companies, such as IBM and Hewlett-Packard - which already in Chongqing - over the next two years to establish centers for software development, information service outsourcing and data processing.
Chongqing aims to employ 200,000 IT professional for its software and outsourcing sector by 2015, and expects the industry will make a revenue over 100 billion yuan.
Zhou Mubing, vice-mayor of Chongqing municipality, said the city's solid manufacturing base, information infrastructure and supply of professionals will provide a favorable environment for the center.
