The Zhangbei County Government of the Hebei Province in North China, Guodiantong Corporation of the State Grid Electric Power Research Institute and Larson Group said they will invest and build an internet data center (IDC) project in the Miaotang Industrial Park in Zhangbei County, according to the Hebei Daily.

They plan to invest 4.85bn CNY to build a cloud computing data center zone capable of hosting 200,000 servers, an exhibition zone and a training and service zone at the site.

The project is expected to attract and foster the development of many industries including smart cities, software and service outsourcing. The investors said the project will create one of the largest cloud computing data center bases in Hebei Province and nearby Beijing.

Investment agreed for Zhongshang Cloud Valley Data Center Project

The Horinger County of Inner Magnolia and CIDS, a data center outsourcing service provider that sites under the administration of the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, said they will construct a new cloud data center project.

According to Xinhuanet, the Zhongshang Cloud Valley Data Center Project will have a total floor space of 80,000 sq m, about 23,000 sq m of which will be white space.

With a total investment of 800m CNY, the project will be built in two phases. During Phase 1, which is expected to break ground this May, two independent data center buildings with a white space totaling 10, 000 sqm will be built.

The facility is only just one planned as part of a wider project which will see eight high-end disaster recovery centers and data centers built in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Suzhou and Fujian.

China gets a new data center alliance

A new non-profit organization launched by the China Academy of Telecommunication Research (CATR) of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has been formed to promote technology and service innovation in the data center industry.

The China Data Center Alliance, which will be based in Beijing, will also work to improve laws, policies and standards for the industry, according to Sina Tech.

The alliance already has more than 60 members including China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom, Huawei, ZTE, Baidu, ChinaNetCenter, GDS, Inspur and Alcatel-Lucent.
The alliance is managed by the China Communications Standards Association of the MIIT.

21Vianet receives cloud service certification

21Vianet, the largest carrier-neutral internet data center services provider in China, has received the Trustworthy Cloud Service certification by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

During the evaluation by MIIT, 21Vianet’s cloud services were analyzed based on 16 sets of criteria defined in the international standards of the Service Level Agreement (SLA) including: efficiency of data management, quality of service and level of intellectual property right protection.

21Vianet’s cloud services, which include Windows Azure, guarantee service uptime of up to 99.95% as well as high levels of security and interoperability, proved to meet the rigorous SLA standards in terms of stability and security, 21Vianet said.
