JD.com, Coolpad Sign CNY10 Billion Contract For Made-in-China Smartphones

Chinese e-commerce website JD.com and top smartphone maker Coolpad announced that the two parties have reached a strategic cooperation agreement and signed a CNY10 billion procurement contract.

Li Bin, executive vice president of Coolpad, said that the company previously sought opportunities to sell more directly to the Internet sector and tried the pre-sale model by cooperating with JD.com. Its e-commerce customized product boasted bookings of over 1,600 units on JD.com. Li said the e-commerce channel has become an important link in the smartphone industrial chain.

Coolpad also launched its new product Coolpad F1 customized for China Unicom. This product features a 5-inch HD display, 8-core Octacore 1.7G CPU, five-million-pixel front camera, and 13-million-pixel rear camera. It also supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, dual card dual standby, and WCDMA/GSM network. The retail price for this product is CNY888.

Coolpad said Coolpad F1 customized for China Unicom can be purchased from Coolpad’s own Internet shopping store and JD.com.

In the future, Coolpad will enhance its investments in the e-commerce sector and will plan to implement diversified e-commerce platform strategies with other companies.
