Chinese telecom device maker Huawei has launched its BaaS back-end service platform PowerApp which targets mobile app developers.

PowerApp launched as a beta version, and non-beta iterations will be released in the future.

During the launch meeting for the service in Beijing, Chen Zheng, the product manager of PowerApp, said that PowerApp aims to liberate app developers from the complex back-end work and help them focus on the business realization of front-end products, user experience improvements, as well as business promotion.

He says that BaaS should be an open platform that can provide continuous service capacity, especially integrating and opening service capacities needed in application development. At the same time, with the development and consolidation of the service, they will establish this platform into an eco-system to form a comprehensive platform which covers cloud computing, storage, database, and standard middleware services.

The launch of PowerApp focused on the release of a development support center sector. For this service, PowerApp will team with QingCloud and An Quan Bao to provide app developers with flexible cloud computing, cloud storage, and a CDN network to meet the one-stop demand for developer environment deployment. The development support center will also include quality third-party development interfaces like social sharing, third-party account logins, weather, and LBS, which are expected to save development time and improve efficiency for app developers. In addition, it offers valuable data source access, covering barcode information, voice recognition, and music recognition, which will significantly improve the service quality of apps.
