Here is a list of ten largest IT services deals in January.

ManTech International won the biggest IT services deal announced in January, according to data from Ovum’s IT Services Contracts Analytics.

The vendor was awarded a contract modification by the US Army to continue providing logistics sustainment and support for the U.S. Military’s Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Family of Vehicles. The deal was valued at $100.8m for an initial duration of two months, but eight additional one-month options valued at $406m will ensure the total contract value exceeds $500m if all options are exercised.

In total, three of the month’s 10 biggest deals were awarded by US federal government and defense agencies. Alongside ManTech’s award from the US Army, SAIC was selected by the Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Change Division to provide technical and outreach services for the development and implementation of the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program, while AI Solutions secured a deal from NASA with a potential maximum value of $138.1m over five years.

HP enjoyed a solid start to 2012, announcing two major contract awards. The larger of the two was a desktop management deal given to HP by the UK’s Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) under the Desktop 21 framework agreement. The five-year deal covers a range of services including security, print, service desk, and device provision and support, and will involve the DWP moving to HP’s own desktop management platform next year.

Also in January, HP extended its long-term relationship with health plan provider Blue Shield of California for a further five years. Under the terms of the agreement, the vendor will continue providing applications development and management services for more than 100 Blue Shield core administrative data and corporate systems.

In the global financial services industry, CGI Group extended its applications development and support contract with National Bank of Canada for a further five years, as part of a deal valued at approximately $350m. T-Systems also secured an extension of its relationship with insurance and savings group Old Mutual for seven more years. The scope of the new deal includes a global service help desk, mainframe, storage and end-user computing services.
